EVENT UPDATE: Although we had to cancel the run/walk because of the weather, the Before the Snow 5K Run/Walk has raised around $12,000 to-date in donations and pledges.
Many people have been asking if they can still make contributions to support Japan earthquake victims. The answer is yes.
Please make a donation through the Donations page by the end of November.
All contributions will go directly to the Japan Society Earthquake Relief Fund and on to non-profit organizations working on the ground in Tohoku. Gifts are tax deductible and eligible for most companies’ matching gift programs so you can double the power of your gift.
Without the dedication and commitment of our participants, the organizing and volunteer committees and the support of our sponsors, partners and donors, and in particular Prudential for underwriting the costs of organizing the run, the event would not have been possible.

Winter will soon be upon the people of north-eastern Japan most affected by the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disasters.
The Before the Snow: Japan Earthquake Disaster Relief 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, October 30 at 10 a. m. in Liberty State Park, Jersey City, NJ will raise money to help the victims of the earthquake this winter and support reconstruction efforts.
Liberty State Park in Jersey City, features breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline as well as easy access by ferry, PATH train, and Light Rail. On site parking is available at the Ferry Parking lot ($7). We have arranged Prudential shuttle buses from Exchange Place PATH station to Liberty State Park on the day and encourage participants to take the ferry to the run site from World Financial Center. All of the funds raised will be donated to the Japan Society Earthquake Relief Fund, which supports nine local nonprofit organizations in Japan on the front lines of relief and recovery in Tohoku (Read more about these organizations). Donations are tax deductible and eligible for many companies’ matching gift programs.
